Quetta shuts down to mourn blast victims

A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Quetta on Saturday to protest against the suicide bombing on the Al-Quds Day procession on Friday, which killed around 60 people and injured 185.
All the commercial districts of the provincial capital bore a deserted look, as most of the shops, business and shopping centres and educational institutions of the city remained closed due to a general strike call. Shops and vegetable markets located at Liaqat Bazaar, Meezan Chowk, McChangay Road, Alamdar Road, Abdul Sattar Road, Hazara Town and other areas remained closed. No business activity had been recorded during the day but shopkeepers opened their shops one hour before Iftar and started their usual business.
Three shot dead in separate incidents in Quetta

Three people were killed and one injured in separate incidents on Monday.
In the first incident, a man was killed and two others were injured when armed men opened fire on their car in Ferozabad area on Monday. A police contingent rushed to the spot soon after the incident and took the dead body and the injured to the Balon Medical Complex Teaching Hospital where one of the injured, Suffer Khan, also succumbed to his injuries.
Gunmen kill 10 bus travellers near Quetta

In yet another target-killing incident, unidentified gunmen singled out Punjabi passengers travelling on a bus, killing 10 and injuring five others near the provincial metropolis on Saturday.
According to official sources, a group of armed men riding motorcycles stopped the passenger coach near Ahb-e-Gahm near Mach. The passengers were forced off the bus and the assailants separated 15 passengers – who belonged to Punjab – after confirming their ethnicity by checking their Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs). The men opened indiscriminate fire, killing 10 instantly while the other five sustained severe injuries.
Deluge sets benchmark for future planners

Experts say that highways, roads, bridges, embankments, barrages, dams and buildings are designed on the basis of 100 years history of floods in a country.

Policeman shot dead in Quetta

A head constable was shot dead in Killi Barozai area near Sariab road on Monday.
Sources said that head constable Jumma Khan was going home when armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on him.
Blast damages NATO oil tanker in Quetta

A NATO oil tanker was attacked in the Western Bypass area of Quetta on Friday morning.
Police officials said unidentified assailants attached an improvised explosive device (IED) to the tanker. The explosion caused thousands of litres of oil to spill from the tanker.
Woman gun downed in Quetta

Unknown persons gunned down a woman due to domestic clashes in Naseerabad, area of Quetta here on Tuesday.
According to reports, unknown persons killed Shareefan Bibi by firing due to family conflicts at Goth Ghulam Qadir Mari, and managed to escape from the scene.
The levies force handed over the corpse to the heirs after legal actions and started search operation while registering a case against unknown persons.
FC Jawan martyred in Quetta attack

At least two persons including one Frontier Constabulary (FC) Jawan were killed when some unidentified armed militants attacked at convoy of FC personnel on Tuesday. According to FC sources, Frontier Constabulary convoy was on routine monitoring in Kolpur area in Quetta when some unidentified armed militants attacked it. During indiscriminate fire at the party, one FC person was killed. The FC personnel also retaliated at the militants, killing an assailant on the spot while other militants managed to flee from the scene after incident. The security forces seized the dead boy of the militant and cordoned off entire area and launched search operation for militants after the incident incident.
Four killed in Quetta, Mastung violence

Four people, including a Levies Force official, were killed and another four injured on Monday in separate incidents of firing in Quetta and Mastung.
A police patrol vehicle was on its way to pick the SHO of Quaidabad police station when unidentified men riding a motorcycle opened fire at the vehicle.
As result, a passer-by Jamal died on the spot and two policemen were seriously injured.
The injured were rushed to Sandman Hospital for treatment.
