Army convoy attacked with bomb in Quetta

In the first incident of its nature, miscreants attacked a military convoy with a remote-controlled device on Saryab Road in Quetta, killing one soldier and injuring 13 others, among them six civilians, on Sunday, official sources said. The injured also included Quetta’s Assistant Commissioner Abdul Quddus Mengal.

“The Army convoy was the target which passed by on the main Saryab road,” an official told The Express Tribune. Four vehicles were damaged in the blast, he added.

Seven injured in two Quetta explosions

Seven people including two women were wounded on Tuesday in two different bomb explosions in two different areas of Quetta.

Police sources said that unidentified motorcycle riders threw a hand grenade in a shop in the Almo chowk area, injuring three people.

Two members of a family died of Congo virus in Quetta, SAMAA reported Tuesday.

While three more members of the same family are also under treatment at the Fatima Jinnah Hospital with similar medical symptoms.

Gunmen shoot dead four cops in Quetta

ISLAMABAD: Political leaders and the journalists held a protest against the Israeli attack on the Gaza-bound aid ship Monday.

People from different walk of life also participated in the protest outside the National Press Club. The participants condemning the Israeli attack demanded to release Pakistani journalists.

6 officials injured in Quetta blast

QUETTA: At least six persons, including three policemen and three Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) officials, were injured in an explosion in Quetta on Monday. According to police officials, a man spotted a rocket in a graveyard of Kaichi Beig area of Saryab and informed the police. Police and the BDS rushed to the site to defuse the rocket. As they were doing so, a bomb planted nearby went off, injuring six officials. The injured officials were taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for treatment. A case has been registered against unidentified men under the Anti Terrorism Act (ATA) and further investigations are underway. staff report

Quetta traders reject 8 pm closure

Quetta: Traders in Quetta rejected the government’s decision of 8 pm markets closure deadline on Tuesday.

Shops in the city remained open until 10 pm and wedding halls also doing business by 11 pm.

Air conditioners, however, were shut down in all government offices of Baloshistan Civil Sectariate. Chief Minister Balochistan has directed to convert tube lights to energy savers in CM Secretariat.

Acid attack defaces 3 sisters in Kalat

QUETTA – Unidentified persons on Thursday threw acid on the faces of three girls in Kalat, some 200 km southeast of Quetta.

The attackers targeted Saima, Fatima and Sakina, stated to be sisters, in Killi Pandarani and escaped the scene after committing the crime. As a result, the girls received injuries and were rushed to Civil Hospital Kalat.
